Manchester United

Manchester United‘s season, once again, has been most unsatisfactory. Big money spent has seen little improvement. There seems to be an air of acceptance amongst fans that if the team qualify for the Champions League via the back door (Winning The Europa League), it has been a worthwhile campaign. In truth they have made hard work of rising above very mediocre opposition therein! The only good thing will be that Liverpool might fail to qualify in 4th place when Man Utd win that final against Ajax. (You wouldn’t bet on them for sure)

The Manager

Jose Mourinho seems apt to picking the wrong players or playing them out of position. Or both. He is certainly good at upsetting certain players. (Martial, Shaw, Smalling)

This Summer, a good clean out is required. If it is possible to keep De Gea, all well and good. If not, an exchange deal for 2 class players is the way to go. Keeping hold of Rashford is a must. His potential is amazing. Eric Bailly has shown great promise also. (Pogba included) As far as I’m concerned, the rest can all go.

Manchester United sold the wrong players

United have had great service from Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick in the past but it is time to replace them. As for Lingard. Mourinho seems compelled to pick him despite the fact that he wouldn’t be guaranteed a place in lower placed teams. Danny Welbeck was not world class but he was far superior to Lingard. LVG sold players that were better than some involved this season. Namely Michael Keane, Jonny Evans and Danny Welbeck.

Valencia, Martial, Hererra, Mata, Blind, Rojo and Darmian are not bad players. Fellaini, though unpopular, has performed well in more than a few games. But are they of the quality that Manchester United fans expect?
